Admissions Process
See the requirements below for the following ages and grades. We look forward to talking to you about enrollment at Zion.
Preschool 3's
Date of Birth & Requirements
Must be 3 on or before August 1st and be fully potty trained.
Pre-Kindergarten
Age & Date of Birth Requirement
Must be age 4 on or before August 1st and be fully potty trained.
Kindergarten
Age & Date of Birth Requirement
Must be age 5 on or before
August 1st
Returning Students
Parents must complete all registration requirements as provided by the administration.
This includes:
- Completing the online application, including required documentation
- Submitting current immunization records or waiver
Providing a copy of the student’s birth certificate (if not already on file)
New Students
- Parents must submit the following:
- Copy of the student’s birth certificate
- Current immunization records or waiver
- Completed online application
- Home Language Survey
For students enrolling in grades K–8, enrollment is not complete until all steps below are finished.
Step 1: Paperwork & Records
- Completed online application for enrollment
- Most recent report card
- Most recent ILEARN and other standardized test results
- Additional educational records from the previously attended school (including ISP, IEP, or 504 plans, if applicable)
- Behavior records from the previous school
Enrollment is not considered final until all records are received and reviewed by Zion Lutheran School.
Step 2: Assessment
All new students will be assessed prior to admission.
Step 3: Admissions Committee Meeting
Prior to acceptance, the parent(s) and student will meet with the Admissions Committee to discuss academic goals, faith development, and school expectations. This meeting supports a successful transition and a strong partnership in Christian education.
All admissions decisions made by the Admissions Committee are final.

Admissions Priority
It is the objective of Zion Lutheran School to provide full-time Christian education to as many children as possible. However, limitations of facilities and student needs dictate that a system of priorities is necessary. Students will be generally accepted in the following order.
Priority Order
According to Parent & Student Handbook
- Children in membership at Zion Lutheran Church
- Children already enrolled from the previous year & their siblings
- Children of community congregations that do not have a school.
- Children of Community

Class Lottery
If enrolled exceeds class size, a lottery will be held in accordance with the admissions priorities policy.
First Come, First Serve
After priority enrollment period, all future enrollments will be accepted on a first come, first service basis.
