You may or may not have heard of Christian Counseling. This could mean a lot of things to different people. At the Zion Counseling Center, this means each of our counselors starts with a Christian paradigm and perspective. From there, we meet each client where they are on their journey.

Someone who doesn’t identify as having a faith in any higher being: We’d love to work with you and will respect your boundaries.

Someone who is exploring faith: That’s great, and if you want that exploration to be part of your treatment, we can include it. But it doesn’t have to be a part of your work.

Someone whose faith is a very integral part of their life: We are comfortable engaging with your spiritual life as part of your treament or focusing on other things.

Because of the way our organization was created, we are able to offer very affordable counseling in our clients. While we do not bill insurance, our rates usually cost less to clients, even without insurance billing. We will work with you to find a fee that is appropriate.

Zion Counseling offers counseling services to individuals age 6 and up, couples, and families. Counselors initially meet with an individual, couple or family to obtain an understanding of their situation and needs. Then, we work to identify church and community resources that may be helpful in addressing and resolving their difficulties and in fostering their spiritual growth. The initial appointment is always a flat fee of $45; cash, check, or credit cards accepted.

The assessment counselor will provide several different counseling options, which may include a referral to a graduate level intern or resident counselor. The cost for these sessions is determined by counselor availability and a sliding fee scale with a cost of $10 – $85 per session.

Confidentiality can seem complicated. If you are eighteen years old or older this means that no one can see your records without your prior permission. If you are under the age of 18, your legal guardians will have access to your records, but your counselor will encourage a level of privacy within the counseling relationship. Confidentiality does not protect an individual if they report wanting to hurt themselves or someone else, or report an elderly person or minor who is currently being abused. If you have additional questions, please feel free to reach out.

The Zion Counseling Center also offers ART Treatment. ART Accelerated Resolution Therapy, is a form of therapy that is quickly gaining recognition as an effective treatment for trauma and other disturbing life experiences.

I am thrilled to be here serving at Zion Lutheran Counseling Center. It is my passion to help others reach their goals and live a wonderful life never thought possible. Counseling for me is a connection, conversation and avenue for those to be safely seen and heard while processing the difficult events and circumstances of life. My goal in counseling is helping others to grow in skills, techniques, and have the tools to navigate life well.

My counseling style leans toward an eclectic composition of Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral Theory, Emotion-Focused, Attachment theory, Townsend Model, and Polyvagal Theory. I closely follow the neuroscience behind memory reconsolidation and formation. I have been trained in level I ART, SYMBIS, and Prepare and Enrich for couples.

I recently graduated with my Masters in clinical counseling and psychotherapy from Concordia University Irvine, Townsend Institute. I hold a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Counseling from the College of Biblical Studies, Houston.

Outside counseling, I love reading historical fiction, spending time with family and friends, being outside, running, swimming, singing and traveling. I have been married for 16 years. We have two teenage daughters.
